The Hilton Garden Inn Perry is a relatively new hotel offering a modern and comfortable stay, particularly appreciated by travelers passing through for events at the nearby fairgrounds. While guests consistently praise the cleanliness, friendly staff, and modern amenities, some recent reviews have highlighted operational issues related to service and unforeseen fees.
I usually have reasonable expectations about mid-level hotel stays for 1-2 nights. But I can't wrap my head around this one completely. It wasn't a bad experience, but there were repetitive hiccups. Location is excellent near I-75 and easy backroads to the fairgrounds, where our event was the next morning. The exterior facade was pleasant and up to date, the brick paver parking lot was very nice looking. Upon checking in, the girl talked fast and mumbled and I wasn't sure what she was asking. Apparently, she needed a $100 deposit for incidentals on my credit card even though there is no mini-bar or "incidentals" to be had....maybe room service? (this is isn't The Ritz) The lobby and rooms clearly had been updated and were nice at a glance. However, if you look closely, the older fixtures and other details in the room were still present. It looked new, but felt old. "Lipstick on a Pig." The beds were springy but comfortable and the shower had great pressure and heat. There was a series of loud banging around 5:30am on but not sure where it was coming from. Maybe construction next door or behind the hotel? There were two bottles of water available for $3 a piece, maybe these were the $100 incidentals. The best part is when we went downstairs for breakfast, the typical dried up eggs/sausage/bagel/coffee buffet, a server quietly told us it was $13 a person! If we weren't in a hurry to get to our event, we would have skipped out to a restaurant. I understand Hilton Garden Inn is trying to elevate their product, but it is a stop-in-go hotel. I think IHG will need to decide whether this product is economy or first class. If the majority of your customers are passing through for events at the fairgrounds, I would suggest low-to-mid pricing and free water.
Great stay! Room was spacious and such high ceilings, very comfortable beds, and clean (whole hotel was clean). Front desk staff were all friendly and helpful, esp. Paul who I interacted with the most both via chats and in person. Our breakfasts each morning (omelets, pancakes) were delicious (cooked to order vs the buffet). Leslie is a talented chef and even came to check on how we liked our meals. Sam and Stacey were kind and friendly servers. Would stay again for sure.
My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perry, Georgia right after we got married, and it was truly the perfect start to our new life together. From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel incredibly special. They complimented us, celebrated with us, and genuinely shared in our joy. You could feel their happiness for us, and that warmth meant everything. After settling into our beautiful, spotless room, we headed downstairs to enjoy the bar and dining area — and wow. The atmosphere was upbeat, welcoming, and full of positive energy. Chef Nate prepared two enormous ribeye steaks cooked to absolute perfection. They were hands-down some of the best steaks we’ve ever had. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious, and the homemade whipped potatoes were unbelievably flavorful — you could truly taste the care in every bite. We have to give a huge thank you to Amanda, the General Manager, who generously gave us 50% off our entire bar and food bill. We were completely amazed by her kindness and thoughtfulness. That level of generosity and hospitality is rare, and it made our wedding celebration even more unforgettable. Shardae, the bartender, deserves a special shoutout — she can make any drink you want, and she makes it perfectly. On top of that, she has one of the best personalities you’ll ever come across. Brad, our server, was equally incredible — attentive, friendly, and genuinely one of the best in the business. We also met some wonderful people at the bar, including David and Faye Smith. They prayed with us and even bought us a drink, which was such a beautiful and unexpected blessing. The entire evening just felt meant to be. I used to work in the hotel industry, so I know what excellence looks like — and this hotel exceeded every expectation. Five-star plus, plus, plus. Beautiful rooms. Amazing service. A team that truly goes above and beyond. We were so impressed that we will absolutely be returning. Thank you for making our wedding night celebration one we will cherish forever. The staff they were so lucky to find are real asset!! Can’t wait to come back and see you even if we don’t stay in the hotel, the restaurant and bar alone well worth it
We loved our stay here so much we came back the next week to stay. Brand new hotel so still working out kinks. The staff is so incredibly nice and helpful! Rooms nice and spacious. Lots of room to walk the dogs. Crabtree and Evelyn bath products. Beautiful new hotel. We look forward to staying here again.
We stopped here late in the evening without reservations and had such a great stay! It's located perfectly, right off the highway with easy access in both directions. This brand-new hotel just opened and everything feels so fresh, clean, and modern. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The food was delicious, and the whole place is beautifully done. Staff is very polite and friendly, I loved the streaming TVs (which are surprisingly hard to find in hotels!) The attention to detail really shows—We’ll definitely be returning! All staff were excellent, but Amber who was working at the front desk was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Many thanks Amber!
Nice, new hotel. Shout out to Destiny and Amber who made our check in and checkout experience true hospitality. Aside from being a well laid out hotel, it's new and in great shape. Fridge was hot on arrival, had to take out tray supports so the tray would fit in correctly and the door to close to keep items cold. Also, we never received hot water in the shower...barely room temperature at best. Obviously being open only for a week, you deserve a break to get these corrected. Now, that being said, please get your F&B credit worked out so folks can enjoy that part of GOLD membership. We would have enjoyed the break buffet, but it was very lacking in options. Also, I am displeased to learn you charge a "transportation fee" of $5. We only stayed one night, but I imagine you charge this on a nightly basis...seriously? This sounds like a sneaky fee to add onto your rate, not cool and slightly deceptive. Good luck!
Our family of 5, 3 little kids had such a great stay! This brand-new hotel just opened on Monday, and everything feels so fresh, clean, and modern. The food was delicious, and the whole place is beautifully done. Staff is very polite and friendly, I loved the streaming TVs (which are surprisingly hard to find in hotels!) and the nice bathtub was a great bonus. The attention to detail really shows—I’ll definitely be returning!
